A native of Houston, Texas, Brian G. Smith is a 1984 graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. with a Bachelor of Architecture. He has completed additional studies and training in Public Administration and City Planning at Texas Southern University in Houston.

Brian G. Smith and Associates was founded initially during his senior year at Southern University and later reorganized as Brian Smith Construction Inspection, Inc. (BSCI) to offer additional services. While BSCI was growing, Brian gained experience as a project architect, design manager and construction inspector.

Brian is a member of numerous professional associations including: Construction Management Association of America (CMAA); Design Build Instructors in America (DBIA); National Forum of Black Public Administrators Corporation Advisory Council;The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME); Minority Enterprise Business Executive Program and The Advanced Minority Enterprise Business Executive Program at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth; Houston Small Business Development Corporation and Board and the Almeda/OST Turz Environment Renovation Zone.
